Byrd the Bodyworker
I have been in private practice as a massage therapist since 2010. I am a graduate of the East West Therapeutic Bodywork Program at Centerpoint Massage & Shiatsu Therapy School and Clinic - with over 1200 hours of training in eastern and western sciences, massage, and shiatsu. In 2017, I completed the Spinning Babies Integral Touch of Birth training, and Carole Osborne's Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy training. In 2018, I completed 100 hours of training in Craniosacral Therapy and Myofascial Unwinding with Dr. Carol Phillips (Dynamic Body Balancing). I am a lifelong student of the human body's capacity to change, integrate, expand, express, create, let go, and heal.
I believe in the body's wisdom to heal itself. I honor and facilitate that wisdom with humility. Bodywork is a powerful tool for bringing focus and attention to what our bodies are communicating. I work with clients to encourage a fuller awareness of being a human with a body.
Byrd the Doula
I am a certified birth doula, CD(DONA), and a CLEC lactation educator counselor. It has been my great honor to accompany birth givers and their families as they bring babies to the world. I make myself available as an emotional, physical, and informational support to help each family thrive in their birth experience. I listen, observe, and use my intuition. I strive to empower birthing people to ask for what they want in the birth process, and to help them integrate the changes of plan that sometimes happen along the way. I am a former doula intern at the Minnesota Birth Center. I support all birthing people, and all kinds of births. I support hospital births, home births, and birth-center births. I support all family configurations, all races, and all genders. I believe being pregnant, giving birth, and welcoming a child to the world are some of the most profound actions a human being can do. It is my goal to offer the support needed for people to be fully present in the birth process and make this journey their own.
I am currently not taking doula clients. I am focusing on my bodywork practice for the foreseeable future
